Renoir, Father and Son. Painting and Cinema
"Son of", Jean Renoir never hid from it. The Musée d'Orsay organizes a rather unusual exhibition as it launches a bridge between cinema and painting. Jean Renoir, incredibly respected in his field, is nonetheless the son of one of the greatest French painters: Pierre-Auguste Renoir. How was the son influenced by the father? What are the relations between painting and cinema?
The relationship between Pierre-Auguste and Jean was interspersed with interwoven portraits, between a son who posed for his father without ever filming him, but who spent almost twenty years drafting his biography, which is still widely read today. This exhibition is very promising for those intrigued by this lineage.
From the 6th of November 2018 to the 27th of January 2019 at the Musée D'Orsay
