Pop Art: Icons that matter

Pop Art: Icons that matter

The Maillol Museum welcomes the collection from the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York its “Pop Art” master pieces.

Pop Art affirms its belief in the power of image, and it’s often with humour, sometimes with irony that it depicts “the American way of life” to celebrate and critique it at the same time.
We rediscover along the course of the exhibition the major figures in the “Pop Art” movement such as Robert Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol or even Roy Lichtenstein.

The artists from this genre often take iconic figures like Jackie Kennedy or Marylin Monroe and use techniques employed in advertisement and comic books.

Pop Art: Icons that Matter until the 21st of January, 2018 at Musée Maillol
