The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris will devote a substantial part of its exhibition space to the autumn-winter 1965 collection described as "Revolutionary" by the press for its "avant-garde" modern style. The exhibition will inspect its legacy beyond the history of fashion.

The collection altered the connection between fashion and art through the transformation of a painting into an animate work of art. Yves Saint Laurent asserted his desire to confront the principal artists of modernism, he aided in popularizing the Dutch painter, who was not widely known at the time. The Mondrian dresses were so successful that they were heavily imitated. These iconic dresses have been reinterpreted countless times by artists and have become a part of popular culture.
