Doisneau and Music
French photographer and champion of humanist photography, Robert Doisneau’s career was punctuated with musical encounters that caught his artist’s eye. From popular dances to fanfares, to cabarets, he came across jazz musicians and stars of his time. Man of spectacle, for whom the image was to be staged, he always responded with joy to the orders of newspapers to immortalize Georges Brassens, Juliette Greco, Charles Aznavour, Claude Francois ... and, of course, his friend the cellist Maurice Baquet.
His photographs of these instances, many of which have never been shown to the public, are gathered for the first time within this exhibition by his granddaughter Clémentine Deroudille.
