André Derain : From 1904 to 1914
The Pompidou Centre offers us a new perspective on the work of Derain, a major artist of the 20th century. The exhibition traces the stages of the artist's journey before the war.
This French painter played a forward and intellectual role in the emergence of two of the most radical avant-garde concepts of the 20th century, Fauvism and Cubism.
We find the exceptional sets of the painter; the 1905 summer production in Collioure, the series of views of London and the very large compositions around the themes of dance and bathers.
The exhibition presents about 70 paintings as well as an important set of works on paper, sculptures, photographs, Maori sculptures ...
